Programs: Action Grant
Concepts and Ideas

Souris Basin Planning Council (SBPC) Action Grants are monies awarded to new and/or small businesses that have limited research and development funds available to them. The grants are available for individual project research and development. Action Grants are intended to encourage the use of outside expertise to improve a business and can be used to gain knowledge, study ideas or concepts, or acquire patent protection. This generally enables a business to seek funding sources to help the business move forward. Action Grant awards promote entrepreneurship and help primary sector businesses grow.

To Be Eligible
A business or organization must demonstrate a potential benefit to the local, regional, or state economy through either the creation of new wealth or job opportunities to be eligible for Action Grant funds. The financial assistance provided by the SBPC will not exceed $1,000 per project and must be matched dollar-for-dollar for the proposed project. Businesses or organizations must be operating and physically located in the North Dakota Counties of Bottineau, Burke, McHenry, Mountrail, Pierce, Renville, or Ward.

Application Process
Businesses or organizations must complete and submit an Action Grant Application, along with the appropriate documentation, to the Souris Basin Planning Council prior to the first of each month. The SBPC staff will review the application for eligibility. The SBPC Action Grant Review Committee will review the application and make a funding recommendation to the SBPC Executive Board. A decision will be forthcoming within 30 days of submitting a completed application.
