ND Region 2
North Dakota Region 2 represents Bottineau, Burke, McHenry, Mountrail, Pierce, Renville, and Ward counties. State of Region 2 highlights the issues that matter most to rural residents in our region and helps form partnerships that advance us toward actionable outcomes.
2025 spotlighted major developments such as new state investments in rural capacity, the launch of the Rural Catalyst Grant, and discussions on strengthening food systems, livestock development, and workforce growth in Region 2.
As separate events in 2024, SBPC's Annual Meeting and State of Region 2 discussed organizational priorities and regional issues, with speakers and panelists addressing workforce, healthcare, local food systems, community development, and rural sustainability.
The Evolution of State of Region 2
State of Region 2 was established as a regional forum for discussing the priorities, opportunities, and challenges affecting North Dakota Region 2. In 2024, State of Region 2 and SBPC's Annual Meeting were held as separate events. While the Annual Meeting focused on organizational accomplishments, priorities, and governance, State of Region 2 served as a broader regional conversation centered on rural issues, economic development, workforce challenges, and emerging opportunities.
Beginning in 2025, State of Region 2 expanded to also serve as SBPC's Annual Meeting, combining organizational updates with regional discussions, featured speakers, and collaborative dialogue. Unifying the events created a more comprehensive opportunity for participants to reflect on progress, identify current priorities, and plan for future opportunities.
