Arvin Davis, Jr. is known for his use of bright colors, strong brush strokes, detailed line work, and paint and ink splatters; it’s a controlled chaos. When it comes to inspiration, the sky's the limit; from past European masters, to the impressionism and expressionism movements of the early 1900s, surrealism, hyperrealism, imaginative realism; the list may never stop. But collaborating with his kids has truly invigorated him more than any other external stimuli.
This is MAX. Max is an artist, writer, and musician born and raised in North Dakota. For over a decade he has traveled the country playing tunes with his folk/rock band Wild Hands. You may have seen Max's art shown at The Plains Art Museum, published in various magazines like On 2nd Thought or in the High Plains Reader. OR you may have seen him playing music on Prairie Public Television. Max recently decided to throw all his artistic and musical talents into creating his very first children's book - "Wild & The Animal Band." It's a book that features a fun and heartfelt story, but also comes with five original songs written for the book. This project has also launched his new educational / inspirational program: The Little Why Not? Publishing House. The program teaches kids how to make their own stories, make the art and then Max and his team turn their books into hardcover editions to live on the family bookshelf forever. You can visit the new Little Why Not? storefront / event space / workshop nested in Main Street Books in Downtown Minot. AND last but not least - his latest latest adventure - being a first time Dad to his cool new kiddo: Leo.
Roxie grew up on a ranch in the Badlands of North Dakota. Her art is influenced a lot by the nature that she has spent her life in. She often has dreams that include seeing colors that don't exist in waking life and in her watercolor-esque style of painting, she tries to capture them.
